With just two weeks to go until ride day, it’s time to get your ride entries in! The early entry discount ended yesterday, May 13, 2023, but you can still preregister and pay online or at the ride! Getting an accurate headcount (or as accurate as possible) is extremely helpful as we order and make awards and budget items such as meals and supplies.
On that note, we have an update on the awards dinner. We were sadly unable to book a food truck for the ride this year due to it falling on a holiday weekend. Unfortunately, we just can’t provide the income that parking in town would provide for local vendors. However, after examining the ride budget and all available options, we have decided to offer a fun Pancake Dinner for all riders and volunteers at the Saturday awards meeting. This will include pancakes, real maple syrup, hash browns, and (if our donation comes through) scrambled eggs. This will be a potluck as well, so feel free to bring and share any other breakfast items you’d like to see offered or added to the grill! If you want extras added to your pancakes, such as fruit or chocolate chips, just provide them for our pancake chef and he will add them to the batter for you.
This dinner and the awards ceremony are for all riders, and there will be completion awards for everyone, including intro riders. If you are a local rider and would prefer to take your horse home earlier, you are still welcome to return for the celebration. Our fifty-mile riders have until 7 pm to complete, so the awards ceremony will begin after all riders are in off the trail. However, we begin the pancake dinner at 6:30 pm and will continue frying up pancakes until the last riders and volunteers have had a chance to eat.
